Term 3 Week 7 - Thursday 5 September 2024
Principal's Message
Gospel Reading: Mark 7: 31-37
And again going out of the coasts of Tyre, he came by Sidon to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis. And they bring to him one deaf and dumb; and they besought him that he would lay his hand upon him. And taking him from the multitude apart, he put his fingers into his ears, and spitting, he touched his tongue: And looking up to heaven, he groaned, and said to him: Ephpheta, which is, Be thou opened. And immediately his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke right. And he charged them that they should tell no man. But the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal did they publish it. And so much the more did they wonder, saying: He hath done all things well; he hath made both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
R U OK?
R U OK Day is being held next Thursday, 12 September. This is an Australian national day of action dedicated to remind us to connect with each other by asking “Are you ok?” and to remember how important it is to support each other when we might be going through a hard time. We want to recognise R U OK day at St Jude’s, so next Thursday students will participate in fitness rotations that focus on teamwork and communication. These rotations will be led by our Sport and Health and Wellbeing and Arts Peer leaders. There will also be a liturgy in the afternoon, hosted by our Prayer and Youth Ministry and Wellbeing and Arts Peer Leaders. Students can wear yellow clothes on Thursday and bring a gold coin donation, but please ensure it is appropriate for the weather and sporting activities.
Natalie is leaving us
As I mentioned in last week’s newsletter, Nat is embarking on a new adventure, working within a company that helps families manage their NDIS funding, which at times can be enormously challenging and overwhelming. If you need assistance with this, then you can get in touch with Nat via admin@capitalsupportcoordination.com.au (the link in last week’s newsletter had an additional dash, which was incorrect) We thank Nat for her hard work, kindness and genuine care for the students, staff and families in our community.
Katrina is staying
After a period of advertising and interviews, I would like to announce that Katrina Howden has accepted the position of Front Office Manager. Katrina has been in this position since the start of 2024. We are very fortunate to have both Katrina and Renee in our front office team, they demonstrate genuine care for our students and work collaboratively to achieve all that is required to keep our school running. They are a vital part of my team.
For more information in relation to school events, please see below to read my Community Council Report for next week’s meeting.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Cameron

Thank you for your support and participation in our Father's Day celebrations. ELC and Kinder put their hearts into their liturgy and assembly. With this week being Fallow Week, or family week, I encourage you to take some designated quality time together away from the busy-ness of school and work life.
Looking ahead to next week, you are more than welcome to join us for our R U OK Liturgy on Thursday 12 September at 2pm in the Church. This will be led by the Youth Ministry team.
May your light shine.
