Term 1 Week 9 - Thursday 3 April 2025
Principal's Message
This week’s Gospel:
John 8:1‐11
Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. At daybreak he appeared in the Temple again; and as all the people came to him, he sat down and began to teach them.
The scribes and Pharisees brought a woman along who had been caught committing adultery; and making her stand there in full view of everybody, they said to Jesus, ‘Master, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery, and Moses has ordered us in the Law to condemn women like this to death by stoning. What have you to say?’ They asked him this as a test, looking for something to use against him. But Jesus bent down and started writing on the ground with his finger. As they persisted with their question, he looked up and said, ‘If there is one of you who has not sinned, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.’ Then he bent down and wrote on the ground again. When they heard this they went away one by one, beginning with the eldest, until Jesus was left alone with the woman, who remained standing there. He looked up and said, ‘Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?’ ‘No one, sir’ she replied. ‘Neither do I condemn you,’ said Jesus ‘go away, and do not sin any more.’
Mother’s Day
Before we know it we will be celebrating all of the wonderful Mother’s in our community. We would normally have our Mother’s Day breakfast on the Friday before Mother’s Day. However, there is a significant clash with a Year 7 try day which will impact many of our families with Year 6 students. As such, we will move our Mother’s Day breakfast to the Thursday, with our Mother’s Day stall being the Wednesday. More information below.
Building Works
Here are some images of preparation for painting of the play equipment, one of our goal squares (actually a rectangle) and our 3/4 cricket pitch. Each of the goal squares will have either fake grass or rubber Softfall installed at a later date, in the meantime, diving goal keeping wont be allowed.

At 10.00am we will say goodbye to our guests as they depart the school. With year 2 students and their guests moving to the hall for their Liturgy, which will commence at 10.15am.

Lobster class family get together
The Lobster class rep, Lynda, has organised a casual get together for the families of the Lobster class. They will be meeting at the Boundless Playground in Parkes this Sunday 6 April, 2pm – 4pm.
Gymnastics -Term 2
We are very lucky to have a facility like Woden Valley Gymnastics Centre right next door. In term 2, the ELC children will attend a weekly gymnastics class run by qualified instructors at the gym. Check your notes pockets for permission notes. A fee of $90 will be added to your account for the 10 week program. The Turtles and Stingrays will attend on Tuesdays and the Lobsters will attend on Thursdays. Please ensure all students are dressed appropriately for gymnastics on those days. Children will need to remove their shoes and put them back on after the session so please provide shoes they can manage independently.
Project Compassion Donations
Throughout Lent, we will focus on the importance of prayer and doing kind things for others, and we will be participating in Project Compassion to help people living in poverty. ELC families are invited to donate. Project Compassion boxes are located on the prayer table in each classroom and children will be able to contribute during morning class prayer. Thank you for your generous donations to the Project Compassion so far. It’s wonderful to see the children embracing the values of kindness and sharing through this project.

Students will need to search for Australian Catholic Education Network instead of St Jude's. They will need to input their school username and password to access Sora.

St Jude's participated in the AFL Hannah Dunn Cup on Tuesday. Our Year 5/6 girls were outstanding on the day, with 4 wins and 1 loss. The girls lost game one 13-2, won the next 3, 69-0, 9-7 and 81-0 to progress to the finals. The girls won their final 40-6. The top placed 4 teams from the day have progressed to the next level of competition where they will play off against each other on Wednesday 21st May for a spot in the State Championships in Sydney. None of this would have been possible without Pete Lilley and Andrew Brown who trained and coached the team. We are extremely grateful for their support. Mother’s Day Stall - 7 May
This year, we’re holding our much-loved Mother’s Day Stall on Wednesday, 7 May, 9-11am, where students can pick out a special gift for their mums. Items will be available for sale ranging from $2 to $10, so there’s something for every budget! To ensure the event runs smoothly, we’re looking for volunteers, preferably dads, to assist with setting up, running the stall, and helping the children select their gifts. Your time and effort will make this event memorable for all involved!
