Term 2 Week 5 - Thursday 29 May 2025
Principal Message
Gospel: Luke 24: 46-53
And he said to them: Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise again from the dead, the third day: And that penance and remission of sins should be preached in his name, unto all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And you are witnesses of these things. And I send the promise of my Father upon you: but stay you in the city till you be endued with power from on high. And he led them out as far as Bethania: and lifting up his hands, he blessed them. And it came to pass, whilst he blessed them, he departed from them and was carried up to heaven. And they adoring went back into Jerusalem with great joy. And they were always in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
Parent Online Workshops
Catholic schools ACT and NSW Parent association regularly offer parent workshops. Here is the link to the ones that are being offered this term. https://www.ccsp.catholic.edu.au/
Cross Country Carnival
It was a great relief to be able to hold our carnival on Tuesday morning. Hopefully for most of the students it is a stress free experience. We encourage all students to participate at a speed which they are comfortable with. ACT school sport gives us allocated distances which are aligned with each age group and students are able to complete the distance at their own pace. We then send 5 students from each eligible age group to the district carnival, which is being held at Stromlo next Tuesday. Thank you to all parents who came along to support. Thank you also to Mr Mitchell who organised the carnival, Mrs Stincic who rode her bike around supporting and encouraging the students and all other staff involved. It is a wonderful ELC – Year 6 event.
School Start Times
A gentle reminder that the first bell goes at 8:50. With the colder weather, we have found an increased number of students arriving late. This often creates anxiety as they go into a room that is already settled and learning. Please try to have your children here on time as the morning routine at school often sets the tone of the day.
Assessment and Reporting
Every minute of each day that your child is at school, they are being assessed. This is often informal, through observation, and they aren’t even aware of it. However, over the next 5 weeks teachers are finalising assessments in preparation for Semester 1 reports and Parent teacher interviews (week 8). If your child is unwell, then they need to stay at home. If they need a rest day, once a fortnight or month, then that is also ok. However, we need them here as often as possible, to maintain the continuity of their learning.
Playground Upgrades
I am currently investigating appropriate materials to cover the goal squares on the oval. We are also looking at shade structure for the monkey bars area, and upgrades to some of our outdoor spaces to keep them safe. None of these are short term projects, however, I wanted to keep you informed about them.
Thank you for your continued support
Cameron

ELC News
ELC NEWS
Happy Birthday William D and Jean-Luc B
In recognition of Reconciliation Week, the ELC engaged in activities, read stories, and created beautiful artwork that reflected our learning and discussions about respect, history, and unity.
We also began our inquiry into Community by heading out on a community walk. The children were so observant and curious about the buildings we saw and are beginning to form thoughtful ideas about the people and places that make up our local area. To enrich our learning, we would love to invite parents to come in to talk about their professions to deepen our understanding of how different roles contribute to a community. If you’re interested, please let us know.
