This week’s Gospel: John 3: 14-21
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up. That whosoever believeth in him, may not perish; but may have life everlasting. For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting. For God sent not his Son into the world, to judge the world, but that the world may be saved by him. He that believeth in him is not judged. But he that doth not believe, is already judged: because he believeth not in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the judgment: because the light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the light: for their works were evil. For every one that doth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, that his works may not be reproved. But he that doth truth, cometh to the light, that his works may be made manifest, because they are done in God.

Car Park
Please understand that there are several reasons why we have the carpark structures in place:
- Student and community safety
- Ease of access
- Maintaining consistent traffic flow – you may not be aware, but without the drive through, there is significant traffic bank up on the roads leading to the school.
A general reminder that between 8:20am and 9:05am the only parking which should occur is in the spaces beyond the bollards near the basketball courts. Please do not park in the first 3 car spaces behind the Year 4 demountable classrooms. If parents park in this area, it removes the flow of traffic. In the afternoon, when most people arrive at similar times it is different. Overflow parking is allowed on the grass area off the basketball court. Please do not park on the basketball court as this blocks the exit. The exit is clearly marked with large white arrows. We ask that all drivers slow down in the car park, no overtaking is necessary, it is realistically just an extra 30 seconds of waiting.
Students need to be collected from the shelter shed in person, please do not sit in your car and call out to your child/ren. Do not wait for your child to come to you. The footpath behind the Year 4 demountable classrooms should be used for this rather than walking across the car park. if you do need to cross the carpark, please make sure you are holding your child/ren's hand. It would be greatly appreciated if grandparents or other people collecting your child/ren could be made aware of these arrangements as soon as possible please. Thank you for your support with this.
School Assemblies
A reminder that with school assemblies, parents and guests are asked to please wait outside, under the shelter shed and you will be welcomed into the Hall once all the children are seated.

Project Compassion
Thank you again for your ongoing support with Project Compassion. There have been many children donating left over canteen money to their class donation boxes. It has not gone unnoticed! Our classes are continuing their water walks to raise their awareness of water scarcity in many parts of the world. So far our students have walked a collective 66km! Please use the QR code if you wish to donate.
Sacramental update
Congratulations to the children who made the sacrament of First Reconciliation last night. It was a very respectful and significant occasion. We wish all the best to the students who will make their's later this week.
Is your child eligible for a sacrament? In the Parish of Our Lady of the Annunciation sacraments are completed in Years 3, 4 and 6. Click this link to find out more.
May your light shine.

ELC NEWS
Happy Birthday Oliver S
The Stingray and Turtle classes attended their first liturgy in the church this week. We talked about the importance of forgiveness and showing love to each other even when it is difficult. We talked about forgiving others when they do the wrong thing just like God forgives us.
Lids4Kids
Next week Lids4Kids are coming to talk to us about the importance of recycling and sustainability. We will look at all the things that can be made from recycled plastic lids and we will do a fun colour sorting activity. The ELC will be a collecting plastic lids from milk bottles for recycling. Please bring along all your lids from home to add to our sorting net which will be set up in the ELC foyer.
Library, Arts and Fruit Shop
With our Library and Arts lessons on Wednesday mornings, we will now hold ELC Fruit Shop on Tuesdays (odd weeks) and Thursday (even weeks). Please continue to bring a piece of fruit for child to eat each day to assist your child to develop healthy eating habits.
Project Compassion
During Lent, we are learning about the importance of doing kind things for others. We will participate in Project Compassion, which raises funds to help people living in poverty in some of the most vulnerable communities across the world. ELC families are invited to donate. Project Compassion boxes are located on the prayer table in each classroom.
St Jude’s Fete

GWS Giants visit
Last Friday St Jude's was lucky enough to have Jacob Wehr and Harry Himmelberg visit to tell us about their journey in AFL football. They informed students of what is needed to maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle to play at this elite level. Jacob and Harry demonstrated the correct technique of kicking and marking. Students then had the opportunity to practise these skills with Jacob and Harry assisting and offering advice. Students also had the opportunity to get the players signatures and ask many questions. We thank the GWS Giants for making the trek to Canberra from Sydney to visit us.
Athletics Carnival
St Jude's Athletics Carnival will be held Thursday 21 March at Woden Park Phillip. Information and permission will be via Compass tomorrow. ELC to Year 6 students will participate in the carnival. Students will travel to and from Woden Park by bus. Students turning 8-12 years old this year will depart St Jude's at 9.15am. Students who wish to participate in the 800m event will need to make their own way to Woden Park to meet Mrs Henderson and Mr Mitchell at 8.30am. Nominations for this event will be via Compass. The 800m is an optional event. It is 2 laps of the Woden Park oval. We are fortunate enough to have students from St Mary Mackillop College assist us on the day.
